As the Sri Lankan government dismiss international pressure to call an end to its horrendous war against the civilian Tamil population in Sri Lanka, Mr Subramaniyan reaches day 23 of his hunger strike outside the British Parliament building.

The hunger strike is now attracting increasing numbers of supporters to the square including two young students from Kings College who join Mr Subramaniyan in a fast and British activists from a range of other networked groups who assemble to show solidarity with the plight of the Tamil people.

The situation in Sri Lanka continues to worsen and as a result there are now calls for Sri Lankan government representatives to be summoned to the United Nations to explain themselves. The UN are also under pressure to consider sanctions.
